The final competition - which will be open to an audience of members
of the public - will be held at 7.30 pm on Saturday 10th July
2010 in St Luke’s Parish Centre, Rattle Road, Stone Cross,
Pevensey, East Sussex BN24 5SL (please see Where
we are for location and directions).
Prizes
There will be cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. The size of these
will depend on the number of entries but the 1st prize is guaranteed
to be at least £50.
***
STOP PRESS - 22 June 2010 ***
Appleyard
Studios have
kindly donated an extra prize for the winner of Have YOU Got TALENT?
A 4-hour recording session (up to 3 songs) at their
professional studios in Robertsbridge
(or a cash alternative if a non-musical act wins)
Auditions
All acts will be required to audition and a maximum of 16 acts
will be chosen to go through to the final competition. Auditions will
be held at St Luke’s Parish Centre on the evening of Friday
25th June and during the morning of Saturday 26th June.
Additional audition sessions may be required depending on the number
of entries.
All acts must submit an entry form by 5 pm on Thursday 24th
June 2010. Please do NOT just turn up at the auditions hoping
to perform if you have not previously submitted a form. Performers under
16 years must also have submitted a signed parental consent
form and be accompanied at the auditions by a responsible adult.
Acts will be auditioned in the order they arrive on the day (though
precedence may be given to any very young children).
*** STOP PRESS - 22 June 2010 ***
The late
announcement of the extra prize from Appleyard
Studios (see above) has generated new interest in the competition.
If you would like to enter but have missed the 24 June deadline
and/or the 25/26 June audtions - please contact us NOW as
we may still be able to consider you.
Judges
The final competition will be judged by:
-
Matt
Lapinskas - Performer and recent graduate of the Italia
Conti Academy of Theatre Arts
-
Emma
Furlong - Performer and teacher of drama & English.
-
Teresa
Merecki - Producer of musical shows and a drama teaching
assistant
The judges will select their favourite three acts on the night and these
will perform again in a ‘head-to-head’ competition. The
audience will then vote and their scores will be combined with those
of the judges to put these acts into 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. In the
event of a tie for 1st place, the judges will have the casting vote.
If there is a tie between 2nd and 3rd places, the acts will share the
combined prize money equally.
Judging
Criteria
Acts will be judged on the following criteria:
-
Technical
skills / technique
-
Performance / stage presence
-
Overall likeability and potential public appeal of the act
Rules
1. The first rule of this competition is that there will be very few
rules!
2. Application for entry is open to anyone who believes they
have talent and any type of act. We do though
reserve the right to refuse entry or audition to any act that we consider
offensive, immoral or cruel.
3. There is no age limit, though performers
under the age of 16 years must have signed parental consent
and be accompanied at both the auditions and the final
competition by a responsible adult.
4. Acts should perform for at least two minutes, but no longer
than five minutes. The judges may, if they wish, stop and/or
eliminate any act that falls outside of these limits.
5. We reserve the right to introduce other rules, should these become
necessary. Entrants would, of course, be informed of any new rules before
performing.
Equipment
For the final competition a central performance area will be set up
in the main hall of St Luke’s Parish Centre (exact size of the
area is yet to be decided). There will not be a stage, curtains or wings
– performers will enter the hall and walk into the central area
in front of the panel of judges. The audience will be sitting to either
side. If the size of the performance area is critical to your act, please
contact the organisers in advance to discuss this. For the auditions,
the equivalent area will be marked out on the floor.
For both the auditions and the final, a standard PA system will be provided
(i.e. amplifier and microphones) with facilities to play CDs/MP3/cassette
tapes. Please note there is no piano at St Luke’s
Parish Centre.
***
STOP PRESS - 22 June 2010 ***
St Luke's Parish Centre DOES now have a brand
new Yamaha digital piano
which may be used for this competition
Any
instruments or other essential equipment must be provided by the performers.
Please make your musical / electrical requirements as clear as possible
on the entry form. We cannot guarantee to be able to match all requirements
(though we will do our best!). We would contact you before the auditions
if there was anything we could not provide.
