Final Competition
The final competition - which will be open to an audience of members of the public - will be held at: 7.30 pm on Saturday 12th July 2008 in St Luke’s Parish Centre, Rattle Road, Stone Cross, Pevensey, East Sussex BN24 5SL (please see below for location and directions).

Prizes
There will be cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. The size of these will depend on the number of entries but the 1st prize is guaranteed to be at least £50.

Auditions
All acts will be required to audition and a maximum of 16 acts will be chosen to go through to the final competition. Auditions will be held at St Luke’s Parish Centre on the evening of Friday 27th June and during the afternoon of Saturday 28th June. Additional audition sessions may be required depending on the number of entries. In addition, if a large number of entries are made by pupils from the same local school it may be possible to arrange auditions at that school.

All acts must submit an entry form by Thursday 26 June 2008 (new extended date). Please do not just turn up at the auditions hoping to perform if you have not previously submitted a form.

Each act will be allocated an audition time and will be expected to arrive at least 20 minutes before that time. The organisers will be as flexible as they can, but any acts arriving later than their allocated time may not be able to audition.

Judges
The final competition will be judged by:
- Dr David Hanraty - local GP and talented musician/singer; senior cantor at St Luke’s Church
- Mrs Janet Joy - experienced local professional repertory actress, singer and dancer
- Fr John Kimberley - known to many for his years as Chaplain to the Eastbourne Hospitals; singer and longstanding performing member of the Eastbourne Gilbert & Sullivan Society.

The judges will select their favourite three acts on the night. The audience will then vote to put these acts into 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. In the event of a tie, the judges will have the casting vote.

Judging Criteria
Acts will be judged on the following criteria:
- Technical skills
- Performance
- Overall likeability and potential public appeal of the act

Rules
1. The first rule of this competition is that there will be very few rules!

2. Application for entry is open to anyone who believes they have talent and any type of act. We do though reserve the right to refuse entry or audition to any act that we consider offensive, immoral or cruel.

3. There is no age limit, though performers under the age of 16 years must be accompanied at both the auditions and the final competition by a responsible adult.

4. Acts should perform for at least two minutes, but no longer than five minutes. The judges may, if they wish, stop and/or eliminate any act that falls outside of these limits.

5. We reserve the right to introduce other rules, should these become necessary. Entrants would, of course, be informed of any new rules before performing.

Equipment
For the final competition a small stage area will be set up in the main hall of St Luke’s Parish Centre (the exact dimensions are still to be decided). There will not be front curtains, though there will be ‘wings’. If the size of stage is critical to your act, please contact the organisers in advance to discuss this. For the auditions, the equivalent area will be marked out on the floor.

For both the auditions and the finals, a standard PA system will be provided (i.e. amplifier and microphones) with facilities to play CDs/cassette tapes. An electronic keyboard will be available but acts would need to provide their own keyboard player. Please note there is no piano at St Luke’s Parish Centre.

Any other instruments or essential equipment must be provided by the performers. Please make your musical / electrical requirements as clear as possible on the entry form. We cannot guarantee to be able to match all requirements (though we will do our best!). We would contact you before the auditions if there was anything we could not provide.

Location and Directions
Stone Cross is situated just north of Eastbourne in East Sussex at the junction of the B2104 and B2247 roads.

The Parish Centre is attached to St Luke’s Church, which is located at the main crossroads (traffic lights) in Stone Cross diagonally opposite from the Red Lion P.H. (not to be confused with the Village Memorial Hall, which is on the other northern corner of the crossroads).

The car park entrance for the Church and Parish Centre is very close to the traffic lights at the top of Peelings Lane, off Rattle Road (see
Where we are for a map).
